Got a call off my Dad on sat night asking if i was ok for fishing on sunday morning, No probs i said and the times sorted for the next day, Set off to knott end at 6am, it was a cracking morning and the sun was already warming up nicely,
We launched C’mon Irene and after ringing Rushy we set out to the smoothy markwhere Bill caught the biggie , It was mine and my Dads 1st time targeting these sporting fish, We dropped anchor and 1st cast my dad had a cracking run whicHh does this to your rod
We both had some cracking fish come over the top, Common and starry smooth hounds up to 10lb
A nice starry
We had a few fish bite us off and we were using 60lb hook lengths so we had to break out the steel traces to see what was down there, It was a tope and it had taken a peeler
1st one of the season and it wasnt a bad one either, weighing in at 20lb dead
Just a shame it was on my Dads rod
We pumped a few worms at low water and headed out to Fisher Bank tops in hope of a Bass or two, We ended up with Doggies
Dabs a plenty
A few codlings
And more hounds
This was the best days fishing my Dad and i have ever had in the bay, We had around 50 smoothys up to 10lb, tope to 20lb and a rake of the smaller stuff, No bass though but you cant win them all
P.S Sorry about the bellys
