In an effort to better understand Tope population dynamics and the potential for interactions between the various UK distributions, Aberdeen based Ph.D researcher James Thorburn, financed by the Scottish Sea Angling Conservation Network, is looking at Tope DNA to see if there is any breeding overlap and inter-dependency, and if not, assess the implications this might have on special protection requirements in certain areas.
