19/3/2015 Retirement what a Pain.

Nothing better to do than go fishing, day after endless day, fishing, fishing and more fishing!
Today was no different, met up with Padsta on the front at Morecambe. I was early for a change, either that or Tel was late!
We wandered out to Ruth's boat, it was 06.30 the sky was blue the sun shinning across the mirrored surface of the channel with the early morning haze hiding the far side of the bay.

We dumped our kit in the boat tackled up and headed for the channel to have half an hour fishing the first flood.
First cast and Padsta into something big!
We'd come for plaice and tel thought this would be a big one. Half way in he had to stop and clear the top eye of weed. Back into it and he's pumping the rod like a man possessed!
And guess what, the man that couldn't catch a cod during the season just got one!
It was a cracker measuring 47cm
T#•t!!!
Nothing for Frankie yet.

The tide was running quick and we had to wade "welly deep" back to dry land and the safety of the boat.
It wasn't long before we were afloat, tel did a bit of housekeeping while I did the fishing.
The fishing bit paid off, I'm into the first plaice, and not a bad one either.
Tel almost missed it he was too busy with his marigolds and detergent!
09.15 and the suns high in the sky, it's warming up nicely maybe even catch a few rays later.

There's a break in the tranquility, a load of "f"s from tel. He seems to think distance is a priority it's not enough to be 500 yds out in the bay!
He has to cast another 500 and ended up with the mother of all birdy's.

All tangles tidied and Tels back in the water.
Hi tide the boat turns and Tels on the good side of the boat!
This is good news for me cos now he doesn't need to cast over my head.
It's not long before Tels into another fish. Judging by the bend it's another cod!
Oops not a cod but a double header of plaice and ones an absolute clonker!
11.09 high tide been and gone, things a little slow until Tels new Yuki rod starts to twitch. Not a huge plaice but great to christen the new rod. Well done tel.
Another fish for tel, had to get him to point at it! So small I couldn't see it.

I was defo right about boats they don't have a port & starboard they have a good side and a crappy side!
Guess which side Tel put me!

12.02 Tels having another cleaning sesh!

It's been a cracker of a morning, we've caught a few fish, all mine went back to fatten up for another day.
Padsta kept his cod and a couple of big plaice.
This retirement truly is hard work!

More to follow if we get lucky!

It got a little quiet at high water so me and tel caught a bit of sun!

Now for the truth lads gave Frank the choice of Sides Port or starboard   not my fault he picked the side I wanted so entirely his own fault, it took him ten minutes to decide.Coming of the beach with 5 fish in my lg Aldi bag it got heavier and heavier, I'm sure Frank had had a dump in it.And now I've been christened Marigold Tel because I was keeping Ruth,s boat clean so we can use it again , emptied the bilges to. We had a laugh a minute all morning, Frank even slept on the prom all night so not to be late, he only lives up the road. Laughing all day good company our Frank

I've been trying all winter trying to catch a Cod I spent November, dec , Jan, and Feb, with little to no success, using size 2 hooks for Plaice first cast. Bloody cod nearly threw it back in disgust.
