5 bar gate - 19/10/15

Postby Oldschool2 » 19 Oct 2015, 17:24

Launched my 3m rib off the beach at low water this morning, there were a few other ribs and kayaks on the water.

For the first 2 hours I fished about a mile out in 25ft of water. I had double shots of whiting every cast on frozen lug.

For the last hour I moved closer in and anchored at the low water mark. Finally got into some better fish and landed 6 plaice, a few dabs and a few more whiting.

The flat calm conditions made it very enjoyable, hope we get some weather like this when there are more cod about.

Hi, it wasn't too bad take it out to low water. I have found if you put all of the weight to the back of the boat when moving, all the weight is on the transome wheels, making the bow really light. The only difficult but is if you hit soft ground, just stick to the hard sand. It is a solid fibreglass floor, the tubes deflate and it goes in a bag, looks like a big surf board then on the roof.

It's amazes me how many fish there are out there. I literally never reeled in without a fish on. Got through 30 lug in 3 hours. What a lovely morning to fish off the beach though.

Yes it was great. I am going to do more low water sessions, it's interesting as you work your way through the various gullies and the info you gain also stands you in good stead for fishing at high water.

Nice one Jonny, just that bit further out from the beach makes a big difference :thumb:
