A top day.
I was taking Terry Burnside out today for a mega trip it would have worked out about 15 hrs, unfortunately the forecast changed and we had 13 mph Westerlies this evening it's no joke fishing in Westerlies it's like riding your Sister In Law and your Mrs walks in. Terry said let's leave it till the weather improved. The forecast in the morning was spot on, so just a short 4hrs fishing sorry Rick Pennington it was to short notice to invite you, the next short trip your on it. Now hers a worry thing I was on the beach very early cos I had two trips up and down the beach with tools fuel, then tackle. So I thought I'll fish the flood tide on the mussel beds to pass a hour on before me boat floated, and guess what blanked not a sniff bait robbed every retrieve no fish.
I had walked out to the channel this morning to get my bearings so I could get on the fish, and I must have had nearly 40 fish all plaice kept a few for me dinner and returned the rest. One of the shrimp boats passed and gave me a skate he caught in his nets, a bit small I thought it was still alive I tried to revive it for 25 minutes with no luck so home it came. I managed to get some live shrimps for bait but the plaice wouldn't play ball, all they wanted was smelly shitty black. One on rod a flowing trace with two hooks and one with a fixed, one up one down, hooks size 1/0 Aberdeen with a size 4 to keep my bait presentable, when your using frozen it's important to keep your worm straight so I always use a pen all rig. As it happens the first two cast today I pulled in 5 fish. Next a few pics of the day.
