Anchorsholme 14-7-13

Well I decided to ditch the shore fishing last night in favour of getting the yak out this morning instead and it definitely payed off big time. I decided to launch from Anchorsholme slipway at 7:30am.
Anchored up just by the green buoy at Anchorsholme in 18' of water and set up the rod with a 3/0 running ledger baited with frozen crab.
The bait wasn't in the water 2 minutes when it took off like a rocket.
It was like this for the whole 2 1/2 hours I fished and I ended up with around 25 hounds between 6 and 14lb with a few lost fish also.
I didn't bother with the camera as I couldn't really film while I was playing the fish and trying to take stills was a nightmare! I really need to invest in a camera mount as it was hard work to say the least. I also found it a struggle getting the bigger fish on board as I think my rigs were too long which made it hard for me to put the rod down and handline the trace.
All in all it was probably the most enjoyable days fishing I've had and I can safely say I'm hooked on the kayak fishing now!
Will be going out during the week to hopefully target Huss and Rays along with the Smoothound. Hopefully I'll have found a better way to use the camera as these pics and video are all I managed today that kind of turned out!!!

Those smooth hounds are, IMHO, pound for pound, the strongest fish I've caught
I really need to get a launch trolley sorted for my 11' dinghy/seagull set up
That's some great fishing you had :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Great stuff Andy  them hounds don''t half put up a great fight with a bit of depth of water :box: I agree with Graham they are just about the hardest fighting fish, pound for pound, we've got in the UK :fish:

Just wait until the cod are in and you're filling your yak with 3-5lb fish, you've got some great days to come now you're a yakker mate :thumb:

Great report and thanks for sharing :gp:

Me and my lad was on ' Freedom ' this weekend
We caught dogs, huss, hounds and tope but pound for pound the hounds are in a different league, even to the tope
My lad had an 11.5 hound. A 14 must be awesome :thumb:
Good fishing Andy :thumb:
