Anglesey adventure day 1 and 2
Day 1 - 29/3/13 Cemlyn (HW approx. 11:30pm)
Got to my Mums in Anglesey mid-afternoon after stopping at Valley Baits to get some dirty squid and crab. By 8:00pm I was getting itchy feet (Note to me: must get some athletes foot cream). So I decided that I would go to Cemlyn and see what was happening…oh! And have a little fish as well.
Arrived at Cemlyn around 9:15, to find the tide about 2 hours or so from high. I set up near the Tyddyn Sidney car park with one rod 1 up one down with crab and a pennel loaded with a whole squid.
It was cold., around -1 and what little wind there was coming from the east. Not much more to report really other than tried various combinations and sizes of the two baits I had but to no avail. I tod have a couple of little knocks but I think they were probably small whitting. Stuck it out until 1:30am, then with frozen feet (at least it stopped the itching I headed back to Cemaes.
Day 2 – 30/3/13 Cemlyn (again) (HW approx 12:30am)
Popped over to Holyhead and bought all the rag that Winnies Worms and Valley Baits had (two packs in total and also picked up some frozen black and sandeels.
Then after tea Harry (middle son) and I headed over to Cemlyn again. There was a chap fishing near the car park so we headed about half way along the beach and set up 3 rods two with one up one down size 1/0 and one with a pennel. Put squid and lug on pennel and sandeel on one rod (half an eel to each hook and Rag on the other. Within half an hour I had caught a small whitting, but then it went dead.
About 11pm Harry said he was tired and not feeling well and went back to the car. Being a good caring Dad, I decided that I should better pack up………..and move to fish closer to the car so that I could occasionally tell Harry “don’t worry you will be OK” etc.
Anyway this moved proved to be worth it, with one rod rebaited with Rag and cast out I was untangling the other ready to put bait on when the rod with Rag started bouncing. There was a fish on. On reeling in it was a nice small Codling!!
Back it went, and with both rods in (one with a big crab bait on pennel and one alternating between rag and black on a one up one down, the action was hotting up. Next I had a small pouting on rag
Then a doggie on black
My crab remained untouched, but the whiting had come out to play and I had 4 in quick succession , only small ones. Then with Harry moaning that he really did not feel well and having run out of all my comforting phrases such as “stop moaning and get some sleep” etc . it was time to go. It was now 1:45am (nearly 3:00am in new time) with the last cast I caught one last small pouting.
Tomorrow, I think it may be Cable Bay tomorrow, as there is not much wind or wave action at the moment so I need somewhere with deeper water.

Re: Anglesey adventure day 1 and 2
Well done on sitting out in the cold for buggerall on the first night. I like how you take a negative like cold feet and turn it into a positive "at least they don't itch anymore"
A good 2nd night for you with a few species. Shame your lad was a bit crook. It can be a bit distracting. I hope he's feeling a bit better today.
Good luck for tonight.

Sounds good. We are heading out that way next week. Planning to fish Holyhead breakwater a HW but if there is somewhere better we are willing to give it a go.
Looks promising though. Lets hope the weather warms up a little.
Good report
