Bait for smooth-hounds

Postby StevieA » 19 Jul 2024, 08:48

Just curious to know what bait people use to catch smooth-hounds. Everyone I've spoken to seems to swear by crab, but I've done OK in the past just using fresh lug tipped with squid. A couple of days ago I even caught one (a 16lb beauty) on some manky old frozen black.

Always used crab for the hounds, but a couple of years ago noticed mid July worm baits seemed to produce as good if not better than crab. So only use crab now the spring months. :thumb:
