Our forum booked the pier ages ago as a benefit meet for one of our members who has terminal cancer
so we arranged the meet as Steve although unwell is still able to get out and about....plus his family make the best peanut brittle I've eaten so the big bag that arrived with him was soon being munched on.

The Pier is open to the public till 21.30 so once they were gone we started fishing.
Straight away small Turbot,Gurnards,Bream,Sole,Bass,Scad and Mackies were being hauled up all around,I was fishing for Rays on Sandeel and 2 hours in had a positive bite.

My 1st Small Eyed Ray from the beach albeit a pier @ 3 lb 12oz was greatfully drop netted from the surface and for an hour I held the lead.

Then another guy had the winning fish with an 8lb beauty, that killed my chances and of course I didn't get the pisshh ripped outa me much,to be honest I didn't care as it was brilliant to catch a new species .

Me mate Bazza had another 4lb 8oz fish that pushed me into 3rd but it was nice to frame.

Stuart gets the Ray Comp Trophy for 2013,well done fella.

The best part was putting together £180 for Steves cause as we decided that rather than just give it to the Charity due to his health the poor sods skint so we said ....look you and Fiona go out and enjoy a meal or day out together on us......job done.

A crackin Meet with some top banter and some fish for everybody plus a mans group hug for our mate.

That looks a fantastic place to fish? And such variety of species too..?? Sorry to read about your pal, he's certainly not short of good friends. Well done on a great event. ( and third place..!!)
There's more to fishing than catching fish...
