Chesil Beach Dorset (Masonic Pt 2)
Decided on another recce over dusk and darkness @ Masonic after Rays arrived around 6pm with a few already set up,so moved to give myself casting space...Masonic with Portland Cove in the background.
Set up a sand eel pulley rig with a rotton bottom for the Rays over the mixed ground...and a "Bitsa" rig with Rag on 1,Squid head on 2 and a piece of Mackeral on a pop up on the top hook.
Had this Blenny 1st cast on the Rag bait, first of the season,I think its a Tompot but stand to be corrected..!!!!!
Also a few more Wrasse
Another first for the season was this Scad on a macky pop up.
As the sun disappeared it was a really nice evening with a steady chop on the water and a soft breeeeze !!!!
About dusk for the first time this season the sea erupted in front of me and a 50yd circle of Mackeral made the surface boil !!!!!
I already had made up a light spinning rod with a Mepps No 2 spinner and the action was brilliant,ok,it took a while to tame each macky, but for sheer
fun on braid on a small scale..you can't beat playing these mini wiry fish on light tackle....took a dozen for the table and bait which was enough.
As darkness fell these sods arrived and all small baits were munched
by the pout.
I would have liked to have finished with a Ray of some kind but my fresh mackerel and sand eel baits only found these bad boy Doggies and at midnight id had enough of em so trudged back over the shingle bank for the drive home.
Still no Rays......Dammit....but I guess 6 species aint all bad,and hopefully
ill be back for another go at them Raymonds !!!!!!!!!!!

A mixed bag Gazza I like the look of the beaches you fish something about shingle beaches that makes you want to spend time fishing them ,unless i take an hours journey round to Blackpool stuck with mud or something that resembles sand not for getting the grate north wall .
Need to venture further afield i think good pics bud cheers
