Chesil beach,west bexington 11/10/16
With calm clear water and a small surf it seemed ideal for A bash along the shores at bexi,ok the easterly let you know it was there from time to time but apart from that it was "lets craic on" ....soon found a spot to fish away from the crowd and after firing out the braid loaded fixed spools for that little bit of extra distance with 2 pompy loops on 2,s loaded with blow lug tipped with fresh Rag,i had another target down the edge too so a pop up rig on a long light rod was also out.
I was fishing over low water as what little tide movement there was on the flood had my rolling lead moving across the shingle bed, first enquiry and I've got my target for the day....albeit small.
a nice steady thump on the tip resulted in this 1lb 6oz fish....
the pull downs from the light rod told me something was attached to my size 10 ,s fine wire and sure enough my second target for the day was on the shingle....1st Gar of the season .
every now and again I was loading the top hook with plain black lug thinking a coddy might be about
but instead this double shot proved the plaice like it too.......
Giss a smile...........
my best fish from the session @ 2lb 1oz.........
took 3 sizeable for the table plus some gars for bait......
the tips on the tronixpro cobra GT,s at least saw some action today......always a nice piccy as the sun disappears further west........
with the joey mackerel being suicidal today snatching at the bare hooks It seemed only right to
stick a big fresh macky bait out for a Ray after dark....but not to be... but happy enough to snag this
Tub Gurnard as its my 1st of the season for the species.......
also tried big fresh lug baits thinking that coddies might be about but after 4 hours of that without a sniff
I called it a day ........
so with 9 Plaice 6 just on a lb and 3 better keepers it was by best flatty session from Chesil plus the bonus gars and tub gurnard as new species for the season made for a really enjoyable day on the shingle.
