First time out for a bit so was quite excited. Started fishing at about 2pm and had three rods out , bait was squid, black lug and sand eel. It was dire, for five hours I did not have a nibble so decided to see if there were any mackerel about. First time out for my new Fox carp rod and Okuma medium size fixed spool reel loaded with cheap Chinese 30lb braid ( £2.85 for 100 meters ,post free ) For half an hour it was manic and caught 27. Good fun on light rod and braid. If mackerel grew to 5lb they would be amazing fish to catch. BBQ at the weekend I think .

Hi Mac, I was at the Chesil beach in Dorset. The shoals of mackerel had been moving along the beach most of the day . It must have looked like a Benny Hill sketch with me running along to catch up with one shoal only for that one to disappear then back along the beach to try and get to another one, I was knacked. In the end I was just casting out randomly and they were there all the time.
