Cranehall fishery 29/07/14

Postby conprodman » 30 Jul 2014, 14:02

The weather forecast for this week was worsening so I decided to fish on the Tuesday, It's my 1st time here this year so had a walk round and talked to a couple of anglers who were already into carp and silvers.
I decided on a peg at the back of the fishery on a narrow canal pond, while I went to the car for my tackle these two beat me to the bank.
Image
not to be intimidated I set up with my 17ft rod and centrepin reel, plumbed up to find a good 4ft of water and constant across the area so put on a size 16 with shot down the line. I connected every cast in seconds with castor and red maggot but only small rudd and roach.
Time for a change so size 14 with bulk at the bottom to hopefully bypass the small stuff, this worked and I fed micro pellet and dead maggot mix into two swims about 10ft apart, skimmers were 1st on corn followed by a better stamp of roach.
after a while the water went cloudy and the carp turned up,

including this brute, Notice the handmade float a purist angler on the day.

just short of double figures I would think, I had 15 carp over the session from the margins and the middle of track.
I had a try at the tench and changed tactics to the lift method and 6 dead reds on the hook feeding castor and red maggot.
Image
I love it when a plan comes together, later I put on a prawn to see if I could snare a perch as up to now I had landed Mirrors, commons, skimmers, bream, rudd, roach, and tench. This then turned up and for its size gave a great scrap
Image
it must be 10 years since i landed one one these, the guy up from me also got one so hopefully they are on the increase.
Image
Distinguished tail I landed a carp like this earlier in the day or it could be a pond trait.
Fantastic red letter day with perfect conditions, overcast but warm some showers but very light and and quick. fished dead red maggot, castor, corn, meat cubes and prawn, over micro pellet.
Parking is by some of the pegs so this fishery will suit some others like me who struggle with either to much gear or mobility. So with 9 species netted and unhooked in my net for release a great thanks to Harry for keeping a well stocked and managed fishery and at £6 great value.

Great report and pictures :thumb:

Crane Hall Fisheries, is that Great Eccleston way?

It is up for sale, 3 lakes, 2 bed property and 8 acres offers over £500k

:gp:
Fishing and nature go hand in hand there is so much to see and enjoy. Catching fish is a bonus.

That's the one but it's outer Rawcliffe by the toll bridge, I believe the house is sold but H is keeping the fishery.

Looks fishy :thumb:

Is it disabled friendly? If so what level? ???

I am putting lakes/fisheries into 3 categories for disabled on my blog hopefully to help others like myself get back in to fishing or just get out there and enjoy it.

The categories are detailed here

http://pjcoursefishing.fishinblogs.com/ ... -disabled/

Subject to your reply might be worth a drive and have a look. (to fish not to buy) :cheer:

I would put about 3pegs in category 2 next to the office and another 4 in category 3
