Good reminder John :thumb: If that's the gully I'm thinking of then it's caught a fair few anglers out too

That's what gives me the willies about low water fishing, and why I don't do it. Especially as I can't swim.

It's always best to go in two's and with someone who knows the area I do a lot of low water had no problems

It get's my back up the amount of times I've told people not to go on the beach because the tide is on the flood and they walk on anyway then within minutes there coming of again giving me the dirty look like it was my fault the tide had washed them off again....

But there have been times when the numpties have had to wade back through the gulley through there own stupidity then it's my turn to say told you so and bollock them for not listening in the first place....

Great post John and reminder to all. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Arnside too getting some press coverage recently after a Corrie star nearly drowned after getting stuck at the very spot I like to drown worms in Newbarns Bay....Image
This is the very spot the "acting" took place as said actor was pleading with other actor to fight for his life...???!!! If the dipstick had looked behind him...
Image
he'd have seen this big life belt hanging ready for use.....
Okay, okay, I know, it's not real, but the rescue the following weekend was, and one very lucky person was saved with seconds to spare near the viaduct. To see the team helping them off as the tide approached was scary. Very scary. Big signs and two sirens weren't enough to make them think about their own safety ....
I know how fast that water comes in, if you don't, have a trip up on a big tide and watch the power of the sea....we'll be fishing it again when things cool down, most likely from my favourite surfaces. Rock and concrete...!!!

There are several places in the bay where what appears to be firm sand suddenly starts to "quiver" with an incoming tide.

Horrible to feel and an immediate indication that its time to go.
