Day out on the island with RobF
I have been fancying a day on Anglesey for some time now. Yesterday the tides and weather were favourable so me and RobF decided to give it a go.
We had a plan. High water at Holyhead was about 11am so we would hit the first part of the breakwater to find some mackerel for bait then go and buy some rag from Winnies Worms. After that we would fish my favourite rock mark on the island near to Ravens Point and finish up on the beach at Tyn Towyn.
The traffic gods had other ideas and we sat on the M56 for about an hour and only just got to the breakwater at high tide. We did some fluff chucking and managed a bit of bait in the form of a single mackerel and a single herring, a local told us that we had missed the best time and he had 15 good sized mackerel.
We then headed off to Winnies for some ragworm and a chat. He is a really nice bloke and good for information.
Next call was my rock mark where we had a nice variety of fish and a surprise catch. Rob was first in with a corkwing wrasse on the float.
Our tactics were to fish two big baits out and then Rob would float fish and I would fish the bomb with a two hook flapper and bear in mind it was on the ebb.
Rob had a pollock
We were both catching wrasse both Ballans and Corkwings.
Rob had a surprise when he pulled in for a re bait
I had a Goldsinny in with the wrasse also we had a lot of dogfish and we lost count.
The tide came on the flood and I had a single mackerel on Sabikis before we moved off to fish the beach . The order of the day was pulley rigs at range with sandeel which didn't produce a bite. A switch to mackerel and Rob had a proper ray bite and struck into it but it came off close to shore. I had a doggy bite and lost that on the retrieve.
Obligatory sunset shot before the drive home. What a great day out.

None of the fish count for the hunt as they were not caught in the northwest. A point that Rob kept reminding me of all the way home.
