Days 3 and 4 Skye
Fished 2 hours up and 1 down on Armadale Pier which is, I am informed good for rays. It is very deep water here and I fished frozen mackerel and squid on drop down rigs. Just one strange bite with an even stranger result.
Today I went to Carbost which is the home of Talisker whisky. There is a nice little pier there with some deep water with a good cast. Met two local lads who hail from Derbyshire who fish it regularly. They told me that two weeks ago they were catching Huss, Smoothound and Spurdog, but they had disappeared lately . I still fished for them but to no avail just one good bite on mackerel. Plenty of small Pollock on a flapper with mackerel or squid. The on good thing was that the mackerel showed up. Thought I had caught something better but then saw a cormorant trying to take the fish off my trace.
Hope you can make out which photos are which but they all seem to be going to the top of the report.
The wind has been strong from the south and it is moving to the south west tomorrow making it a no no
for the deep rock marks. I am tinking of trying some lure fishing for the Pollock at Staffin Bay. Hope this works out as the fishing has been poor to say the least.
