Double Dykes Double,Dorset
After a couple of "B,s" @ Southbourne I decided to move further along the bay to Double Dykes, again one O them luv it or hate it venues but here we go.....scratching rod with blow lug and Rag on a 2 hook 2,s down the edge from the off saw the Ting in ravenous mood with double shots every cast....meanwhile I was fishing two rods with sandeels further out.....
Got bored with the Tings so set out a running lead on the scratching with fillet of macky....just to see.
To be honest it was poor with only the Tings keeping me active........then 10.15pm somebody rang the dinner bell for 15 minutes as the freespool on the scratching rod reel started to give line.....really slow ...so clicked the reel into gear and eased into it.....good weight but deff not a bass as it hung on the deck....after a couple of mins I see a pair of eyes on the surface but that was it as the hook pulled and I'm stood there .....er.....peeved !!!!!!!!!!!
I walk back to my rod stand and see one of the T800,s tip bending....again and again....I lifted in and it felt lovely, it then kited across me other line....too bad....as didn't wanna lose this too....a quick splash in the surf and winged it out.........really enjoyed that as I had properly christened me Century T800 rod.....
a lovely PB Small Eyed Ray from this venue @ 10lb 10oz so well chuffed with this beautiful big female..........
Strange Squinty eye ...........
a couple of pics and shes soon back in the surf.........
I rebait and hope its the start of something ....well that was it....2 bites in 15 minutes from 2 Rays but I got a lovely Double PB Squinty plus its the 1st of the season for the species for me.........
