Dunster/Minehead and New Passage

Postby skatenchips » 19 Aug 2012, 10:54

Arranged to meet Friends Pompypete,Meic and Jake at Dunster friday so decided to poison them all with a quick munch on these.............

Image
Little did they know that id secreted some anti "catch fish" ingredients in the mix so they,d be trying and getting bugger all,,,,,Oh ,where did I get that ingredient.....well its mine naturally as I always catch feck all...!!!!

Anyway, after the worst journey imaginable to Somerset,4 1/2 hours from Heathrow to Dunster on a friday afternoon....never again.

I arrived and after meets and greats and agreeing a massive £1 side wager for best round fish we were soon fishing.

Image
We had a groyn each and were soon covering all the bases, but after watching another angler turn up and have a codling first chuck the writing was on the wall as none of us could muster anything untill.............

Image
Yes,my rig intended for Sole was attacked by this poxy thing ...but hey I hadnt blanked.

Image
The same smal rag baited rig went back out and this monster round fish of about 2 oz put me in the lead.

Needless to say the grumbling masses groaned as I struggled to tame the beast, but I'm afraid that was it for Dunster....Bloody dire !!!!

Image
We packed up and moved to Gasworks Beach which is a proper arrrse of a walk down the huge boulders til you reach the sand, after following it out for 100,s of yds and flinging all manner of baits into the darkness.
Pete had a momentary bit of excitement with summit on but lost it in a snag.
Oh....this is Meic by the way laying like a beached whale on the stones, moaning Ol sod ..""My feet hurt Boyo" is all he bleed in my ear as we fished ard..!!!! Poor Ol sod !!!!!!

Well,so much for Gasworks we all blanked there and after I fixed a quick brew we parked up for a few zzzzzZZZZZ,s.

We said our goodbyes around 5am and headed home.......
......well,I didn't,I decided to drive back to New Passage next to the Severn Bridge and after a bit more kip had.............

Image
Rump steak on the go for breakfast.

Image
well breakfast was around 4pm as id over slept....zzzzzzzzzzzzz..but it was delish.

Image
After a quick chat with the tackle shop he told me this peg had been producing Sole on scratching rigs on the mud bank and codling further out.

Image
so while I waited for the tide to arrive I found meself a bit of local pussy to keep me entertained.

quick vid of the venue.

Image
Also under the bridge is a large hole that is sposed to be good in the winter for big eels and cod.

Image
I was soon surrounded bu locals telling me of Bass being caught the previous night but like all good fishing stories, fish didn't figure in mine.
Apart from a few taps on Rag baits I didn't connect with bugger all.

Anyway,it was good to be out fishing again, and had some larfs with the fellers, albeit the fishing was pants.!!!!!
Sold a Shakespeare Titanium Rod to Jake for £50 squid so the night werent a total loss,,,,good luck with it fella,,!!!!!

Oh and I did win the round fish £1 but need less to say my tight companions are obviously still thinking about paying up.

Gazza.... :fishing:
