Eastney 05.08.15
Headed down to Eastney yesterday with the intention of experimenting with a load of lures, just to really see how the movements worked and to see if my weedless rigs were doing what they were meant to.
When i arrived the tide was higher than i'd ever seen it (and any previous luck had been on low tide), and still coming in, if you have ever been to Eastney you will know that the tide comes in/out at ridiculous speeds. I headed down on to the beach to rig up, choosing to go with my weedless worm first, as i was excited to see if i had achieved the correct set up. A few casts over some (fast moving) weed proved that it was all okay
Not having much luck, and my lure being dragged across the beach I headed to the pier in the hope of dropping the lure down and letting the tide take it, as I got there another keen angler stated he'd seen some mullet around the base of the pier so that was my spot. Nothing. This been the result I walked back along the beach to other areas that are a lot more sheltered, again no luck, saw a few others get some tiny wrassse on rag but lures are my game. I stayed here for a few hours trying my luck but zilch.
Low tide was now approaching so i headed back up the beach towards the pier and pipe (my beloved pipe where i landed 5 small bass last time of trying) I'd seen a big wrasse landed from a pool created by the tide so back to weedless worm, as approaching i saw 3 or 4 large bass really shallow, quick cast and nothing so i quickly changed to a Savage gear sandeel, but they had scampered towards the pipe! Game on.
Nope, a few lightning strikes and a static shock later I was put off. Whilst i blanked for the day, I am starting to learn about the location and am sure the lures will bring the fish in.
Any tips and advice appreciated
