Five bar gate
Well after my bass yesterday I thought I'd give my usual launch site a go had a quick chat with Steve then set out paddled out bout a mile in front of the venue a started to fish with crab and fresh lug on one up one down rigs fished for forty five mins and not even a knock so drifted over to the school at rossal and anchored up quite close in say half a mile and was straight into the smoothounds caught seven lost two one as I lifted it into the kayak the rig boom snapped and the second I got all the way to the top and with a shake of his head he was gone gutted cos it was a big smoothound I reckon at least five foot long and twice as thick as my arm oh well better luck next time but I've had three cracking days hopefully more next week if this weather holds

Re: Five bar gate
Decent little session for you there Chris, shame the biggie got away but look on the bright side, at least you didn't have to wrestle with it in the kayak
I'd be trying the rock armour over the shitpipe further down towards the point, flicking a diving lure over the top of it there's bound to be bass hanging round there
cheers for the report

Make a difference - take home one piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing
