Re: George Thornley Memorial
Sorry not been on for a while due to my injuries was hoping to get the opp done before Xmas but if they don't it'll be soon after.............
Anyway about the George Thornley meet I was hoping to do it every year and had the Trophies made for it Well the overall winning team trophy and Ruth kindly made the biggest fish trophy which is still in the hand's of Pugsie and I have the cup.........
Ill health stopped me re-organising the follow year's match But if anyone wishing to take up the rein's i'd be willing to help in anyway I can using the same foremat as last time as it worked well and was fair for all in volved and we could vote on the Charity that it would help.......
And for the record it was Daz Blackpool and Ruth who helped and Sam was the Cumbrian Skipper....
I advertised it on 3 forum's to try and get the numbers up which proved a little difficult as there is a bit of bad blood between some members of the different sites but it didn't have any impact on the craic and the day's event's which had good turn out's And the terrible weather at Nethertown where it snowed and was bloody cold and didn't do a lot of good for my foot.......
The matches were followed by the count up and the curries and hot pot and Raffles......
If memory serves me we raise close to £800 over the 2 leg's but the Cumbrian leg was missing a few Cumbrian's
I only fished the Cumbrian leg as I was busy selling ticket's and sorting other stuff out but I did catch at Nethertown Codling and a Whiting..........Lanc's won by the way....lol.
Would be good to see it get going again.......
Wormgutz used to run it but unfortunately couldn't that year and I was sort of volunteered and it went from there.........
Georges Son used to li ke to attend to do the Raffle etc after the meet ....i'll try and get his phone number again for him and invite him back he was alway's pleased hid Dad was remembered in this way.
Just a pity I was unable to carry on as we got load's of prizes and donation.s from a few of the local tackle shop's.........
How I worked it was Entry £5 plus a Raffle prize preferably something they would like to win which boosted the charity money ....We had Rod's Reel's , tackle boxes, booze etc.
I think most people won something on the day so all good fun.

Thank's everyone i'll try and get some thing sorted in the New Year and will be asking for help and input on venues etc........
But I think the rules that I used last time need to stay the same as they worked well for everyone.
Thank's again for your support and i'll see you all in the New Year........
MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
