How Will I Accessorize My Daiwa Saltist 4500 Spinner?
Before I Get It Wet I Need To Work On It:)
I decided to spool it with 40lb braid over mono. Why? Watch the video for my reasoning. I spooled on 300yd of 40lb Eminent Braid fill shot by Soft Steel. Could've easily taken more. Quite impressive for a 4500 size spinner. Took 300yd & easily could've taken 30yd more. This also gives me the opportunity to splice on a mono or fluoro top shot now (forgot to mention that in the video).
I used my fishing line spooler The Fishon Spooler by Sportsman Innovations (link at bottom of page). If you check out my other vids i found a way of adding on a digital line counter to this portable spooler for only $20 more. I can now compact the line on more tightly & evenly thus allowing more yardage.
The 4500 is a difficult in-between reel size & the types of line that can be correctly utilized by the restriction of thicker monofilament lines. Thicker line requires more spool space which is harder to do w/this size. Thus i had to go braid but i used thick braid. My intent will be light to medium shoreline plugging to jigging. I already have an Okuma SST plugging rod 9"9" rated for 1-3oz (SST-C-992H-CGa) just for this reel. Hopefully a good match.
