Arrived on Saturday and went to Armadale Pier waiting for my son who was coming by ferry. That's what I told the wife . We arrived about an hour before he was due. Time for some fluff chucking for some mackerel to eat and to keep as bait . The word from anglers on the pier was that the mackerel had gone. I had a go anyway and managed a good specimen almost immediately. That was it apart from a few coalies to half a pound.
Bait was going to be a problem .
On Sunday morning I had a go off the jetty at Carbost next to Talisker distillery. Caught a Joey and some small pollock on Sabikis and used them as bait but blanked on the better fish .
Dug some small black and blow lug off the beach at the back of my rented cottage on Monday morning and went to a beach near Tokavaig. The ground was a bit stony with weed but I managed a good flounder at one pound twelve ounces.
Today I had a walk out round Kilamauag Bay. Caught a small pollock and fished it flapper style on a pulley rig . Had an almost instant bite but it was obvious that it wasn't a fish as it was slower than a conventional bite it was an octopus. Managed about 20 Coalies to between half pound to a pound and a solitary pollock about a pound.
The cottage in which I am staying is owned by a local fisherman. He has given us langoustines which were very nice I am going out on his boat tomorrow hauling prawn and lobster pots and doing some fishing. Will report on that.
I have not got the hang of putting my photos in order and I apologise for that .

I’m not sure I’d have made it past the Talisker distillery, I bloody love that stuff!

Good going there, awesome to see an octopus out.
