Low water, under a lighthouse
Had a few days in Anglesey "chilling" in the late summer weather. Easterly winds were flattening all the surf on the Southwest beaches and I wasn't really equipped for the rough rocky stuff, so I opted for a spot of 'easy' Huss fishing at Penmon. I say 'easy', with a sprained foot the less walking I needed to do, the better.
Down nice and early, waders on to cross the gulley.
Sea conditions were ....unpredictable. One minute a lazy wave, the next a series of goffers racing up the rocks.
It's a bit like fishing under Big Ben, especially on foggy days !
Caution was the word and that placed me a little out of position. So much so, that I was being nailed by the crabs and down to LW it was crazy I managed to snag a couple of large edibles (6 inches across) and in the battle to untangle them, dropped the iphone which sealed it's fate for the remainder of the session.
Perseverence paid off though and with the tide turning, the sea settling and a change of rigs to get the bait off the bottom, I was back in the target zone. A couple of dogs came up to start the ball rolling.
Just imagine the picture. No amount of button pressing was bringing Samsung back to life.
........ and as the tide picked up, 2 bulls came ashore. Not the biggest but at 4lb and 6lb, big enough to put a tick in the box and a smile on my wincing face as I hobbled over the rocks.
Nothing on the lure rod but still a great little session
