making progress

I nearly didn't put this post on as I have just read Abbo's post and realised that there is a bit of a gulf performance wise. However here we go.

I fished another spot on the local rock mark yesterday, I had done a low tide recce and although it is very rough ground I thought that with accurate casting (not much chance of that), it was fishable.

Fished 2 hours up to high and 1 down with 3/0 pulley rigs and 30lb snoods. 6 ounce spiked sinkers would hopefully stop getting dragged into trouble. Bait was fresh blowlug and frozen sandeel.

I landed 4 dogfish and lost a couple more to snags, they felt much the same so I guess they were more doggies. Bites came to both baits.

Float fishing once again failed to produce which is surprise as this would seem the ideal method for this mark, there is deep water close in. Further low tide scouting is required I think.

I am off to fish the beach tomorrow as the northerly wind has produced some surf, fingers crossed.

The internet connection is a bit dodgy today so no pictures, sorry.

Thanks guys.

I am fishing north of Moelfre.

I tried the beach this morning but the weed was orrible, a local chap said it was very unusual for this stretch of beach to be so rough. I stuck it for 2 hours, digging worm as required (no one can accuse me of not using fresh bait), but it was very hard work and another blank.

on days when conditions are against me I just have to think about what I would be doing......family....work......etc......and make the most of just being on the beach.... :fishing:

i agree with that Gazza, sorry if I gave the impression that I was complaining. As I said to the local dog walker, "its better than being indoors watching Bargain hunt."

Moelfre is a lovely place - I struggled there even for maccies. The weed can be problematic - I think a light easterly will fish ok.

Good report mate - thanks for sharing
