Menai Straights 1/12/12
An overnight visit to my grandmothers on Anglesey gave a perfect excuse to try out my newly purchased light lure rod on the Menai Straights, with a variety of soft plastics. Fully expecting to blank, as it's my first real go at lure fishing and as the conditions where far far from ideal (low tide in December). Anyway, dragged myself and my brother out of bed at 6am, fully insulated against the cold and walked down to the straights in the dark. Long story short, blanked (as expected), and to be honest I would have felt a complete fraud if I had caught!.
But it was a great way to spend a morning with stunning views, and on the positive side it's all good practice! The lure gear is going to be my car kit for those nights away from home with work when the weather improves.
A few pictures taken once the sun had risen.

Like you say, you were up against it lure fishing in December, but you never know unless you have a go it looked a decent a day for it, if a little chilly! I bet you can't wait for summer now!
Great pics and thanks for the report

Make a difference - take home one piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing

Is that by Nelsons column mate? If so, plenty of cod in the hole right in front of the statue, cast uptide, no further than 50 yards, let the lead find the hole, oh and hold.onto your rod, lol.

Cheers for the comments. Yes, it's by the column. If I'd have known there was cod loitering, I'd have taken the beach caster and had a crack at them instead (or as well!).
