Milford On Sea/Hengisbury Head Dorset

Arrived @ Milford Shingle Bank yesterday hoping for Bream and decided to fish the ebb tide as the flood sees far too much weed for me this time of year.

Image

Fished 1 spinning rod with Rag size 10,s Nr the Rock groyne and started getting Ballans from the off, although nuffin bigger than 10oz but good fun on a light rod.

Image

Another feisty Wrasse

Image

Different colours all !!!!

Image

Another little rattler

Image

My other rod was wacked as far as with Rag tipped with squid and around 7pm it went nutz for an hour with Bream to 1lb

Image

Never caught a Red Mullet From Milford so well chuffed with this littleun.

Image

The Bream carried on till around dusk and although I had some crackin hits
on my Century Supermatch I missed quite a few bites.
Image

When the Pout arrived I was off as the flood had kicked in and the weed came with it,I did try sandeel for Rays but the weed was horrendous.

Image

Not bad plenty of fish and 4 species in the session.

HENGISBURY HEAD (Double Dykes)

Image

Had some Rag left and decided on a quick 3 hours after Bass as the waves were rolling in today but the Bass I found here in Feb were absent
and only little nibbling Bream were about.

Image

These tiddlers were hanging themselves........

Image

Ok,it was good to catch albeit small fry today, with rain threatening
I called it a day.

a few fish from two sessions,so a bit better than of late.

You jest Russ, but I ate both in Madeira and bloody tasty they were too.

But the Wrasse is safe I enjoy it as sport only, but if the Red Mullet came in 2lb size id be
cooking that without doubt.

Yes mate,Dorset is a crakin county,I've got the Stour and Avon less than 10 mins from home and the
sea is 18 mins don't get no better than that mate after living all me life in a concrete jungle
in Middlesex.

Lovely area mate

Blimey I have fished there!!!!! :fishing:

Loads of wrasse and also one occasions a long thin fish, very bony, I was told when you cook it the meat is green, so never did :cheer:

Can't remember what it was.

I was never a sea fisherman, to much chuck it and see but, I always liked to tinker and try different things.

Good report and pictures mate

:gp:
Fishing and nature go hand in hand there is so much to see and enjoy. Catching fish is a bonus.
