Mr portpatrick

Postby mrportpatrick » 12 Sep 2016, 10:28

I've already written about the man who was kayak fishing out of port Patrick,a place I've been going to for 36years,as you can see you don't have to go far before you are into fish, you can launch the boat for free,if you are on holiday there, you have to pay mooring fees for the harbour,so many species to catch all within two miles of the harbour and now Dominic Wilson ex HMS illustrious, skippers the boat predator and has found a reef off killintringan lighthouse with common skate on l think the best has been 192lbs in just 80ft of water you can motor for seven miles and there are some good wrecks, also don't forget port Logan, you can launch off the beach the sand is rock hard out of the port there and you can head for the mull or straight out on slack water to Beaufort's dyke, where I've heard some deep water fishing clubs have had jet black, male spur dog no more than 10lbs but its not my scene fishing in water 321metrs deep I believe it takes about 7minutes to reach bottom, but one time we were moored up in the harbour under the port Patrick hotel son in law was larking about, put a mackerel on his hook, look what I've caught and within two or three seconds this conger that looked like a tree came up to try and get it so my son and daughter got their phones out,the tail was level with the wheel on the warrior and its head was near the engine an old skipper Bryn Watson's said I knew there was a monster in that wall but I've never seen it he put it at 70to80lbs poor Bryn is no longer with us,but a good week to go to pp is lifeboat week its fantastic what an atmosphere the all come over from Ireland, you name it and they're on it the lifeboat lads put on a barbie, their is a massive bonfire and firework display so if you've a boat get up there pick July to sept and you will have a brilliant holiday sadly I only go once a year I went in June this time, all we caught was three cod, thirty six mackerel one good gurnard caught by my daughter and four Pollock in two days we got out it was rubbish the rest of the holiday it was like the Atlantic cu folks and thanks for accepting me on your forum.
