north anglesey huss hunt.
North anglesey huss hunt.
With the wind picking up this weekend i picked an early week session up on anglesey
to target the huss as they are now showing up in good numbers up there
we would only fish the evening night tide as low water was at 11pm
and we would fish the mark until midnight
we climbed are way down to are chosen venue just as the sun was setting
it was nice and sheltered from the wind up top
and the sea conditions were very good.
Big hooks and big reels and big baits were the order of the night
the cap lamps came on as the sun set and the baits were cast into the blackness
carl took the first two fish of the night
and as normal the fist night fish to come on the feed were the dog fish.
I took another two dogs fish out and then all went quite
and the dogs disappeared back into the darkness
then i took the first of 5 small strap congers all between 2 and 3lb
they must have been a fresh batch of new arrivals to the island.
Then i got a better bite at last and a good bend in the rod
this produced a good sized Bull huss for around the 10lb mark
this fish was not very photogenic and it put up a hell of a fight when the camera came out .
We both then lost a few good sized fish to the snags but that's fishing for you
just as we were starting to pack up for the night
as the wind was now turning around and low had been and gone
carl then landed the last bull huss of the night.
