oban
Just got back from 3 days around oban.
Set off sat morning nice and early and checked into the camp and put up the tents, the weather foreast was a slight bit of wind sat night for an hour or so and we thought that's ok.
The 1st session was at the foot of the camp into 120ft of water which resulted in a few maccie loads of dogs and pestered by small thornies and one 10lb common skate.
got to bed 01.00 am and it pee'd down all night I wasn't bad as I stayed dry but poor mal and kev got soaked and had about an hour sleep in the car,.
2nd day.
had a wet breakfast while the sun came out and headed for a mark on the isle of seil. there we blanked big time. the sea swell from the atlantic was horrendous, so we set of back to oban for a chippie tea. and then back to the camp for another session there.
this time it was flat calm and within minutes of setting up we were attacked by hordes of midges, un aware we were armed with avon skin so soft dry oil spray which we were astounded by how it stopped them in there tracks.
again it was dogs and thornies but not as many this time as the bait was a day old. (word of advice if travelling up this way bring loads of maccie and get where you stay to freeze it for you).
day 3
mal and kev headed home and I headed for bonawe quarry. her I had a couple of thornies dogs and a single spur. it started pissing down again so I sacked it and headed home a day early. 5.5 hours home so wasn't to bad.
till next time. thanks for reading. (photobucket is being an arse again so here goes)
