on the scrounge
hi all, I'm on the scrounge a little bit
I've got my yak and PFD, GPS, Paddles Landyards etc but I'm missing an anchor reel, a VHF and a dry suit (suits not that inportant as i do have chesties and a cag top that is ok if i put a belt round my chest i believe??) now i know the anchor reel isnt all that expensive but cash flow is a little short at the moment, and my mrs is taking me up to kirtkudbrite for my birthday on the 6th-9th feb and i really want to take the yak! i know if i take it, it will probs be rough as hell and i won't get out anyway, but if i don't i just know if will flat calm!! lol I'm just wondering if anybody of here and localish to me might have a spare anchor reel i could perhaps buy or a old/spare VHF that might be for sale?
any help appretiated
thanks Ant

I don't like the idea of chest waders sealed round your waist.if you fell into the water you would float feet first. ![tdown ](http://anglingaddicts.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/thumbdown.gif)

Re: on the scrounge
I have a very good dry suite from my UK diving days with a huggy bear for underneath.
Probably needs new wrist and neck seals, comes with dump valves, the one on the chest, you can attach a manual inflator hose too.
Company who made it in watford used to supply the emergency services with them.
£50 for both subject to it fitting, think boot size is 9-10 the rest will fit if you can
get on a Yak.![Smile :)](http://anglingaddicts.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Reminds me of when students in Capenwray got their legs higher than their torso and inverted, boots & legs sticking out of the water at least they could breath, with no air is not a good idea.

Re: on the scrounge
i must admit i wasnt to keen on the idea myself, but as long as you squeeze the air out when you put them on its ok. i was told about it by some very experienced kayak fisherman from another forum, and after watching a video of sombody demonstrating, i tried it myself when practicing re-entry on the canal and they work suprisingly, floating fine and staying dry. It is just a short term solution mind! i deffo want a dry suit lol

Thairover, that sounds nearly ideal, I've heard the chest valves can rub a bit when paddeling but tbh I'm sure i can overcome that, where abouts are you mate?
