plaice, flounder and loads of school bass

Postby black bart » 31 Jul 2011, 18:43

Decided on on early start saturday with the bigger tides and good forecast i thought it would be a great day for a big bass ,,,,,,, loaded the boat up friday night ready for the off fresh lug was the order of the day , I set off at 3,00AM after a restless few hours kip ,,,,,,, launched the boat at Prestatyn and i was on my mark for 4.00am perfect ,,, 2 hours before low and just before sunrise ,,,,, within 5 mins the first reel screamed , my heart leapped a beat as i lifted the rod ,,,,, god damn seagull had hit the line in the darkness........ set the rod back up and waited ,,,,,, small bite on the first rod , struck it.... fish on ,,,,,, 1 small bass , another bite another bass and so on and on ,,,,,,, all small school bass nothing of any size showing at all ,,,,, moved to the 2nd mark ,,,,, within minuites the same again ,, loads of small bass ,,,,,,, couldn't get past them ....... by 11.00am and nothing much happening i decided on a venture to Hilbre island , just a trip to find potential marks ,,, a beautifull place and the wild life was amazing , loads od seals , turns diving for sand eel ,,and oyster catchers ,,,, tried for a whole spinning with sand eel imitations to no avail ,,,,,,,,, i headed back and returned to my fist mark again fishing it on the ebb ,,,,,,,
i had 3 spinning rods out 2 baited up for bass and one with baited hokai ,,, the hokai rod showed a good bite , reeled in to find a very nice plaice , set another rod up for plaice and i had a good hour or so of plaice flounder and dabs and even a couple of bonus mackeral ,, some very nice ones in amongst them , kept a couple for the table ..... the fishing died off when another club member decide to cut right across my stern and pull along side to see how i was gettin on !!!!!!!! No chance of any bass now ........... 4.30pm and fishing dead i decide to head in ,,,,,, the sea was now flat and I'm sure the bass would have played if id stuck at it .....but 12hrs or so was enough for me well the misses said it was on the phone !!!,,,,,,,, great day out , and some beautifull sights ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah a small joey, that should do the trick... might just pick out the odd better fish.

Only problem might be tope and bull huss taking the livebaits, if there are any in the areas you are fishing ???
