Sat 20-7-13 Yet more fun on the ironing board
Well, wasn't going to bother today but, Jo was ill so, I decided to play the loving devoted husband and go out on the yak again!!!
Went to the usual spot once again but with a slightly different game plan.
I spent the first half hour fishing for the hounds again on one rod and feathering on the other. As soon as I had half a dozen mackerel, I stopped using crab and used mackerel hoping for either Huss or Tope.
After about 15 minutes the first tope made an appearance, a nice fish around 8lb. I deduced from what I could see on the fishfinder that the tope were chasing shoals of mackerel so I changed by bait slightly to a joey mackerel flapper which instantly got their attention. Bites were coming thick and fast although I did miss a few bites and had some half baits come back. I even missed a bite, reeled in to check the bait and the tope followed it all the way to the surface without taking it!
All in all, another fantastic day afloat with the final tally being:-
7 tope to 8lb
6 mackerel - all joeys
4 hounds to around 6lb
Hopefully next time the big boys will be playing out although if I catch one, I don't quite know how I'm going to get it on board!

Note to self:- Tope and bare legs aren't a good combination! It's like having a fecking belt sander on the loose!!!
