Scotland Hols 23/8 -31/8/13
Back from hols up in the Scottish Highlands with the wife and kids , got a couple of new tele rods to take so i could have a couple of sessions with the kids down the pier , which was well worth it cos the look on their faces and cries of " dad i`ve got a fish " were priceless .Was gonna get a 10` Shimano Catana CX telespin but got a couple of cheapies for half the price which did the job just as well.
got myself set up then sorted the girls out - couple of shot, small size 1 hook and a small orange jelly worm on and off they went , showed them what to do and it wasn't long before they were doing short casts and letting it slowly sink in search of small pollock while i was chucking way out with lure and shrimp rig looking for the mackerel which were`nt putting in a show . A guy that was already there had spent 2 hours and only had 1 small one . Did`nt sound promising for the week i thought , but what the hell the scenery more than makes up for it . So just a couple of small pollock 4 me and nothing 4 the kids sadly.
Monday morning came and " can we go fishing dad " was the call and with loads of goading i finally gave in and we went for a while b4 heading for the arvo on the beach , then something to eat and down the pier again-wish i had`nt as my eldest hammered me on the day score was Sandy 6 pollock me 2 n a lost macky and jenny got none but enjoyed all the same

Tues was a day out to Ullapool n no
but blue sky and sunshine again.
Went again on weds with some fresh muscle for bait and jenny finally caught - must have been able to hear her for miles .

Thurs was cooler so while the wife and kid`s were out on the glass bottomed boat i took the opportunity of launching a3oz bomb and shrimp rig for the macky having been told they were in and sure enough there were a few about and i ended up with 15 and 4 little pollock and that was the end of that as the wind picked up over night so a trip along Loch Maree on Fri and a dabble for the trout fesulting in 4 of the most beautifull coloured fish i`ve seen in a long time , just wish i had a pic of them . Going to take the big stuff next time for a do at the plaice of the beaches .

A couple of pics of Celia the local pet seal who floats about waiting till you catch one and gets it as you chuck it back , will also take the fish off the hook .

waking up to this every day

Nice report Mac. I love the pics you've taken but I suppose with scenery like that you can't fail. Glad the kids liked fishing coz its so much better than when they are bored rigid and mider you to do something else. It looks a beautiful spot. I really should get myself up there more often.

excellent report, great if you can get the kids into it, and away from their computers, lovely place to holiday.
LETS GO FISHING.

Gorgeous photos mac. Looks idyllic.
Glad to hear the girls enjoyed their fishing.
Always a joy to see young uns doing something they enjoy,
As a teacher I get a buzz like that in the classroom.
All the best to you.
Regards
