Shetland

Postby tatch » 06 Oct 2019, 21:49

Just returned from the second outing up to the Shetland's this year and another cracking result we had a lousy journey up with the weather being terrible all the way to the ferry. Soon forgot that when we got in the bar for a few beers morning soon came & we had breakfast onboard then straight up to toft for the ferry to yell on arrival at toft id just remarked id never seen an otter there they must've been earwigging as a couple of them popped up great to see what a start that was. Once onboard Oberon and at our first mark which was to be for huge coalies just to get the five amongst us who'd never been before used to a bit of fishing Shetland style they were soon discovering those monsters don't give in all the way down they go when they hit at 30 to 40ft then a battle royal all the way back up they just won't stop needless to say there were some very tired people by the time we had done. Cod were very few & far between but we had a few to 28lb plenty ling to 30lb biggest coalie 32lb two torsk came up too & I had a halibut. we saw a few pods of pilot whales too what a great sight after all that fishing filleting & boozing up in the club it was a relief to get back for a rest a big thankyou to Kenny & Callum for a great weekend & pete for getting us safely there & back. For anyone thinking of going up Kenny's accommodation is spot on three lovely big cabins with everything in Wi-Fi tv kitchen the lot although we order food off a lass up there who leaves it all prepared to heat up spot on it is too next years booked can't wait a link to videos here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1071848826192063/ can't get the stupid photo bucket to work right so another link to the photos here I hate photo bucket its so unreliable https://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/ ... .39026487/
