Shoreham Sussex"Widewater "Charity Bash 2013

Postby skatenchips » 22 Sep 2013, 23:37

I enjoyed last years gig so much that I had to join the Kent Blankers ensemble for another bash at kicking other county R,s.

After collecting bits of bait along the journey to Shoreham and then getting it topped up from Davesea with some of Kents prime maddies I was hopeful for a few fish .....or so I thought..!!!!!!!!

After entertaining not 1 but 2 "everything in it please"brekky burgers from Mikes cholesterol enhanced food stand and sharing my hot Tea with a bleeden great black alsation who I wasn't gonna argue with I plucked out No 14 and had 2 of kents finest as next door partners Zar and Jeffro.

Me Zar and Jeff were squeezed tween 2 rock groyns and were soon firing out Maddie,Whiterag,Lug combos to the waiting fish or so we thought.....

first hour elapsed and my twitched size 12 with 2 maddies finally had a small hit and this bristling little sod came in .........

thank gord... at least I wasn't gonna entertain the thought of draggin my sorry arse up to collect a blankers trophy......more of that later.

well id like to say that early fish lead to a further enjoyable 4 hours but they were biteless ,single maddie on a size 16 to 6lb mono was twitched along the rock groyn edge really scratching ....and my popped up fish bait looking for any surface activity met the same result.....bugger all.

Meantime Jeffro had caught a flounder and was on the scoreboard, but then the cheeky bastard winkled out another 2 one of which was 30+ cm,but as it was a team event I welcomed the sight of any fish.

alas that's all from us 3 amigos..so to the presentation.

The food stand was popular as usual with a tasty curry for our Tea.

Mike "The Chef" chilled out as we waited to be fed.!!!!!!!!

Image

The assembled 1000,s.....ok...about 30 of us assemble for the trophy presentation.

Image

Our very own Jeffro took the honours for best flatty"good on you mate"
and blended into the background with his ard earned winnings.

Image

One of the local sussex fellers took the team trophy as yet again our Kent team efforts were not quite up to standard.

Image

Sussex pose with winning silver trophy....fair play.they earned it !!!!
with Golden Grey Mullet,Bass,Garfish and Flounders making up most of their winning team haul.....we had the same bait ,just not the local knowhow to entice the fish.....maybe next time..!!!!

Image

Oh the shame..!!!!! a jubilant Kent team member going by the name of DAVESEA.....YES THATS DAVESEA....... decided that embibing a litre of scotch and a GOLDEN trophy for being BEST BLANKER on the day outshone
the team pride and to make matters worse scuttled away with his ill gotton
gains without letting the rest of the team help him test the bottles contents.....your not worthy !!!!!

Image

Proud moment as Zar,Davesea,JW Jeffro and myself share a team picky with our illustrious Forum colours taking centre stage.

Good to see everybody, the banter was a top notch as usual although the fishing for me was crappola....same time next year, although this Heathrow lad will have moved to Dorset by then but hopefully will still get an invite
to fish for the "Kent County Boys""

Really enjoyed the day though ,and a big thankyou to MarkS and his Mrs who yet again pulled the strings to get this gig off the ground and earned some much needed funds for their chosen charities, and of course Mike whos culinary skills and willingness to feed my starving belly with good quality grub must take a bow.

Cheers all
