ahh right, have you tried the rig winders? not sure what they are made of but bought a set of those years ago when they first came out and used to use them before moving over to using pipe insulation, so have some of those.
they are quite thick so do you just use one?

I'll tell you tomorrow Les. I've literally just used rig winder in my pump and I'm pumping tonight. First impressions is the pump is stiff but it should loosen up with a bit of squeezy and working. Suction feels good. If they do work you can take the center out of the rig winder and still use it after for its original use.

Well Les. It loosened up lovely and gave good suction. I don't know if it was the pump or the conditions but I seemed to get more worm. I would be happy to recommend using rig winders in your bait pump providing you use a rubber washer above and below and also metal or plastic ( depending on your pump) washers top and bottom. This helps keep everything where it should be and allows the rig winder to be squeezed out giving a better seal, giving more suction. Also washing up liquid or veg oil is a must.
Hope this helps
