Smutly Topetastic at Cleveleys
Went out from Cleveleys yesterday. The plan was to meet up with Trotter and Dean on the water.
Arrived at 8.15 and was soon kitted up and heading down to the water.
It was a fair hike as it was low water. Before launching I had a chat with a couple of shore anglers who kindly gave me have a dozen peelers. I paddled out on a glassy flat calm sea sorted the chum bag and attached to the ancor warp before ancoring up.
First rod cast out was the tope rod. With the tide just sarting to run I was confident of some toothy action. Half an hour on and not a touch.....time to lob a crab out on the other rod.
BINGO... A good rattle and the rod bent round, Common Smut number one
antoher crab on and cast in....time to phone Trotter and tell him to grab some crab on his way if he got the chance. Bang! Strike and missed the bit ::)
with 4 crab left I had to pay attention. I managed 4 out of 4 in the next half hour. 2 more commons and two Starry`s
With no more crab it was time to try for smaller species on one rod with the Tope rod still quiet. Black lug tipped with maccy took my first of manys doggies ::) just as Trotter and Dean finally arrived and joined in.
By now the tide was about an hour before high and was begging to slacken off. Trooter was soon in on the action and after dropped a few at the surface Dean managed his first sea fish from the yak........a Tope
NOt a monster but they all count!
It turned out to be a day of the mini Tope with plenty taken between 8 inches and 5 lbs.
Along with Dabs galore I managed a bonus codling
PLenty of smaller smut came to squid too
and I had a decent Bull Huss too
and a Starfish hooked in the ......Starfish ;D
A great day out on the water. Just wish the weather would allow more trips out from Cleveleys as the venue has great potential!

Smoothies on the yaks are NOT awesome....especially if you've only got shorts on you end up with no skin on your legs
Brilliant report and pictures looked a cracking day to be afloat

Make a difference - take home one piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing
