South"Porn" bourne Beach session Dorset

After a recent fish from the pier I wanted to see what if anything the sandy beach itself could throw up so arrived around 5pm to a steady
rain cloud sat over the town,this soon cleared by 6pm so set myself up infront of the offshore reef.



2 x Century SRE,s with 3 hook 2,s and 4,s rigs with Rag and Blow lug were readied along with a lighter rod for down the edge of the
wooden groyn.



Boscombe Pier in the background shows how close I was trying from the structure.

The tide was just ebbing so a quick flick out with Blow lug soon had my 1st fish of the session



A slack line bite Near the groyn had me winding hard to make contact and this bristling Nr 2 lb er was soon mine.



Not long after a blow lug baited size 2 was engulfed by this 2lb 3oz Bass,and all in the first hour.

I had 3 more skoolies on the ebb touching 1lb each and all to Blow lug @ around 40 yds,nice easy fishing.




Another 2 lb er this time on black lug.

To be honest LW fishing was completely dead no matter what I tried.



On the flood around 1 AM I had 3 Slipper sole,this being the best of them all caught on small Ragworm baits at distance.

Oh yer,the Porn reference is for the "ladies of the night " who were patrolling the walkway behind me
well I thought about it as I stunk of fish already but the yearning soon passed when the tip nodded....so it was back to fishing.




To be honest the flood caught me unawares with white waves rolling in quite hard and while my Ray sandeels baits remained untouched
I had 2 more Bass.............



1 lb 10oz was the best of the last two.

3AM .....no Rays.....I'm now knackered
and gagging for a ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz...so called it a night




Yer you guessed it,dinner is sorted so watch out in the Cookery section as Ill throw together a couple of Bass Dinners.

Enjoyable session with unexpected Bass action even if the Raymonds didn't wanna play.

Another excellent report Gazza, that's one helluva session in anyone's book, tremendous angling I wish the fishing was as good as that up here, it's still a bit slow at the minute apart from the plaice fishing

Skatenchips,fished Southbourne a few times under fishermans walk,near the cafe on top also Avon beach,Highcliffe,Barton,Milford,and Hurst bank.My best mate lives in New Milton he's the manager of Hobourne Naish park,had my one and only sole down there,small ray at Milford,and a 2lb bass at Mudeford Quay.My bigest problem was getting fresh bait as I could only get rag fresh from Loni's,Christchurch angling and Davis's no black or blow to be had.Also had small bass from the stone groynes under Naish.Will be trying to get down again this year,by the way cracking report and pictures

Yes Millsy,I've been testing the waters so to speak as ,all being well, we will be living Nr Wimborne Dorset soon so Southourne and the other venues you mentioned will be less than 30 mins ish from home.
Always willing to try new places,as that adds enjoyment to your fishing.

Yes Blanko,I've given them a good testing on mostly clean ground,and have found a Ground cast to be the best for me to add a few yds,plus the extra length has been ideal for lifting the line over big swells nr the surf line,although there will be a time when winter seas see them tucked away till the spring Plaice are around again.and I can bang out a 4oz lead on 20lb braid ....

Top rods mate,that have been brilliant additions to my armoury.
