Southbourne Dorset"30 mins of fun"
![Image](http://i59.tinypic.com/53360p.jpg)
After my Solent "B" the previous night I decided on a go for the Rays
along the sands at Southbourne,
on arrival it was obvious the flood tide would be shared with swimmers
and dogs cooling off so just had to be patient and hope they stayed clear of
me.....usual set up with sand eel at medium and longer range and the
scratching rig looking for Turbot or Flatties down the edge.
![Image](http://i58.tinypic.com/2mq9i0j.jpg)
well,to be honest had it not been for these bad boys on the Ragworm
close in I wouldn't have had anything happening as the sandeel and bluey
sandwich obviously wasn't on anybodys menu.
HW came and went around midnight and I'm thinking...another night without
anything of note to trouble me............
12.30am and the ebb brings my 1st proper nibble on the Rag rod ...
this aint no Pout.....
![Image](http://i57.tinypic.com/28s6fs4.jpg)
1lb 6oz Sole sees a proper fish for me efforts....
![Image](http://i57.tinypic.com/2a8hlzb.jpg)
The size 4,s fine wire neatly hooked in the lip.
![Image](http://i62.tinypic.com/r8xjkg.jpg)
less than 10 mins go by and a quick check on the other rods sees a
slack liner that I soon caught up with "yes ,some resistance" on the end.
A nice little small eyed of 2lb 12oz..........
![Image](http://i62.tinypic.com/xdyrmg.jpg)
if like to think I'm getting better at this "selfie" lark but the bluddy Rays
just curl up their wings at the wrong moment,,,,little sods....
still with me waders on soon had it swimming away strongly...so happy
with that.
Id barely re cast the rod when I noticed the line had gone across
my other line, no tide to speak of so I lifted the rod to feel something
on tuther end..........
![Image](http://i60.tinypic.com/ri4rw1.jpg)
a small bar of silver just breaking 2lb 2oz and hed scoffed the sandeel
down whole greedy git !!!!!!!!!
![Image](http://i57.tinypic.com/15zoweg.jpg)
so from a 5 hour session apart from regular Pout activity a 30 minute
window on the ebb made it a crackin night on the sands with 4 species
which might see me doing more ebb fishing along that stretch.
