southbourne in a southerley

Postby skatenchips » 15 Nov 2016, 11:43

Even whilst loading the car at 3pm the heavens were emptying on me so knew what was in store

but I was determined to try as in similar conditions last year I had a few codling ....

Image

should of sussed it from the cliff top and bailed but down the slope we went.........
the worse part is always setting up in pants conditions but once I was cosy out of the driving wind and rain I gave it a go........

bass rod with squid head close in.....whole squid as far as ..and large blow and black lug on 3rd rod.

after 30 mins into darkness the southerly was dumping clumps of weed onto the sand bar so retrieving

the gear just dragged it ashore so starting dropping short but still ended up in washing line de weeding

so not the best.........

Image

the swell was lively so I hoped the squid head close in might work but only resulted in a tiddler bass....still off the mark...and couldt be arrsseedd to get the camera out in he wet....so popped him back.

Image

tried the lug baits and whole squid for coddies but kidding meself really it just wasn't happening and with hw around 8.30 I lobbed a sandeel bait close in and the last thing I expected in this froth was a Ray but sure enough the lead dislodged and I'm thinking more clumps of weed
but in the weed was this welcome little 1lb 2oz Small eyed Ray....blimey didn't expect that....still it was blowing hard and the weed was becoming a real nuisance so called it a night at 9pm but was very grateful for the little Raymondo.........still rather be out trying than stuck in front of the tube at home.
