Southbourne Sands,Dorset
Me mate Gary had this venue in mind so I thought it rude not to join him.
I got to the Bistro section first and set up a recently acquired Century Supermatch LD and the Tronixpro
15 foot scratching rod I got from me friend John brown, ,... both rods needed christening
To be honest I was glad I brought some Rag as the planned Ray and Turbo session didn't look on to me as the sea was well dirty but seeing as Small eyeds,Undulates,Thornies and Turbos to 4lb had come from here last week I was game !!!!!
1 x 2 hook Rag baited at 60yds and a 3 hook scratching with macky/bluey and sandeel flicked out 20 yds.
Gary turned up around 6PM and was using sandeel from the off at distance, with the Needles Isle of Wight in the background.
Gary launching his rig, small pendulum style,I must learn this cast one day when the beach is clear of punters as my timing is shiiite !!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY......Gazza gets his 1st ever Turbot from the shoreline on Ragworm @ close range.....well chuffed.
Love the mottled pattern on these fish.
Had a good rattle on the Century rod and begger me if it weren't a reasonable Puppy.
Just shows the waters still cold enough for slugs still to be about.
and yes,my last species of the night....no session would be complete without some of these beggers would it !!!!!
Gary was well quiet next to me having flogged to death his sand eel baits without any takers so I said help yourself to the worm as it had caught me all of my 4 species, fortunately last cast he had a small Bass...thank Gord !!!!!..I kept telling him to pull that poxy hood down as he was doing a perfect impression of "Pappa Smurf"....still its immortalised on film now....
Enjoyed meeting up for a session with Gary, chewed the fat about everything as the fishing weren't all that, still I had my first Turbo off the shore and caught on both new rods so well happy.....maybe the Rays will play ball next time.
Next stop Guernsey Friday,if er indoors allows me some much needed Lure time...
Cheers

Great report Gazza, nice mixed bag, Turbot still few + far between from the shore up here
The Supermatch LDs are lovely rods aren't they , like a Bass rod to hold but with that nice crisp recovery. You don't feel like you're just dragging them in mindlessly with an LD,great fun !

Id already been using my mates LD Blanko,so got used to its light weight and crisp action,I settled on a Shimano Ultegra C14 5500 as its companion, beautiful light Fixed spool with a Free spool set up for Bass and Smuts ....lovely set up for single crab baits lobbed into a surf beach.
hense me getting one and using it tuther day, only had that 1 doggy and he tussled all the way in,I really enjoyed the rod and those Kwags are different gravy with a fixed spool reel.
