Spring Plaice return early.
Had a date with the gorgeous Ruth today the plan was to fish Morecambe Bay around Heysham, to see if we could bag a few late cod. The weather forecast had other ideas a stiff very cold Westerly wind stopping any chance of a trip in the Bay. So we opted to fish Ruth's other boat on its moorings its a little more sheltered but not much. Got to the mooring about 30 min before the tide reached the boat, checked the mooring chain for any imperfections seeing this weekend is a 10.09 tide.
Everything ok Jumped into Catch 22 as Ruth calls it and tackled up two rods each , uptiders for me with one up one down size ones, fresh skellies frozen black, mackerel for bait. The fingers were starting to numb after only a short time. After about half a hour had a good pull down and a good size fat flounder.
Good start then a double header happy days better than the wall I though.
Poor Ruth still waiting for a fish and then another double header for me.
Ruth had a small plaice and then a flounder both returned. Then another flounder for me.
It wasn't long before Ruth pulled in a specimen plaice even though it was thin.
We had about a hour before leaving and no more fish, a cold morning but a few fish to show for our efforts.
Thanks for the invite Ruth will do it again soon.

Glad we didn't have a bet on the biggest fish I'd have come a good second.

Great report Tel and brill pictures of the Beauty and The Beast.
Don't get giddy mate you weren't the beauty
What's fishing off the moorings mean mate?
Does that mean you don't sail it and just sit in it and let the tide come in?
