Starr Gate 27 July

Postby Willpower » 31 Jul 2024, 13:03

Bought my grandson (Joshua) a pair of waders (size 12) so he could have his 1st beach fishing session. I kitted him out with a f/s reel, 13' beachcaster and a single wire boom rig with a pennel snood. Weather forecast was grim (heavy rain - UK Met Office), but we decided to risk it and it turned out to be dry with a nice breeze putting a top on the flooding waves.
Along with fishing buddy Rowley, we got out to l/w, to pumped some worm and soon had enough to tackle up and get fishing. Joshua was in fist with a nicely spotted Plaice, then Rowley and myself beached a hound apiece. I conyinued for the rest of the session with a 1lb 110oz Flounder, Silver Eel and a schoolie. Rowley beached Flounder, Dab and a Dogfish. Almost back to the wall to end our session and Joshua noticed a bite and beached a 48cm, 2lb 12oz Bass. Neeedless to say he was well pleased and can't wait for the next session. PS he's 16 years old today and 6' 3".
