The Wizard of Cod
Not been boat fishing since before Xmas, the last time Buds and I fished 5bar we met Tim Knight and a couple of other oldies launching there little dinghy from the shingle beach, thinking this would be a good idea to try the dory how wrong were we. Frank arrived at mine at 9/10 after slogging through the Lancaster traffic, did a bit of shunting and got the Dory hitched and of we set.got to 5 bar at 1100 hours cloudy but a bit warmer than of late. There was already a couple of AA kayak lads rigging up, John and Tony then Tim arrived and another guy sorry forgot your name and the two old guys with there rowing boat . We exchanged pleasantries and pulled the dory down the beach thank god it was all down hill and over a sandbank. Frank bought these they did help a lot.
Then back to slip waders on bait sorted then a few mug shots
We set of with the old guys in there 40 year old boat and 40 year old seagull doing about 6knots after asking if we could tag along to fish near there secret mark, turned out it was so secret even the fish couldn't find it either. After about a hour had a move over to where the Yaks were fishing they were finding the fishing slow to.
Then things began warming up Frank started to get some good size whiting me still struggling to get anything worth keeping, and this is after Frank complained about having the shitty side of the boat again.
Then I started to get the odd good ting I asked Frank to take a photo for the report and I got this
So after Frank splitting his waders laughing I took my own selfi and fish.
So about 15 good size tings but no cod, Timm had a couple and the other Yaks had one each.
Fished 1/2 hour on the ebb then headed back to the beach so we didn't have to drag the boat to far , as it was it took a 5 of us to get it back on hard ground doing this ripped one tyres of the rim so a wheel change was needed, i seconded Frank for this job him being a Engineer and younger than I.
Got back on the prom all sorted helped the yak lads lift there yaks on the roof racks had a bit of banter then home. O I nearly forgot this
This may amuse a few but the bloody tinternet want let me will try later.
A big thanks to all the yak lads for helping to get the Queen Mary up that shingle slope. Top men.
