Two days in North Wales
Me and the Mrs had a mini break in Wales. Our digs were at a beach hotel at Dinas Dinlle called the Bryn Mor. The proprieters are an Indian family. The room was spotless and of a good overall quality and the breakfast was perhaps the best I have had in a North Wales b and b.
Day one was the run down from Bolton. Got to Pwllheli beach and fished just beyond the car parking towards the Golf Course. Last year I caught bass and black bream from this mark. Sadly just an array of small fish, Dragonet, pin whiting, Pollock and a Corkwing from out of the weed about forty yards out. The parking is now a pay and display but I think that's fair at a quid for four hours.
It was then on to the digs. The lady of the house only cooks for the residents and we were treated to some home cooked Indian curries washed down with some Indian beer.
After a walk along the beach at Dinas Dinlle we did a bit of sightseeing and such then on to the tackle shop at Gallows Point for some info and a bit of tackle. I needed to get some mackerel for the freezer seeing as the winter species will arrive soon. I was told that they were a cert at Moelfre. I prepared myself for some combat fishing but nothing prepared me for the state of the place. There was a broken discarded anglers trolley, numerous used throw away barbecues, litter of every description, about twenty dead mackerel lying in the shallow water beneath the rock drop off I looked down into a rock depression behind me to see human faeces and toilet paper. I was joined by a local lad who blogs on the Jolly Boys site who told me that the locals were up in arms. There have been moves to stop fishing from the venue, I don't blame them. I would hate that to be in my neighbourhood.
The mackerel were all over the place, huge shoals of joeys were swimming right under my feet chasing the fry and whitebait. As the tide flooded I started to catch some larger ones by fishing from the bottom. Everyone was catching. Two chaps were keeping everything including four inch joeys. I am not a member of the fish preservation society but I just had to say something and when I pointed out that the fish were too small, I was told that those fish were worth 50p each in the winter for bait. I just had to bite my lip and think its thick bastards like you that give our sport a bad name.
I finished up with thirty fish for my freezer and four for the table. I could have kept twice that amount but I didn't need them, I just wish that others could see the logic in my thinking. I am off my soapbox now and ready for the Gynn Wall blues again.

its a shame there are some anglers that don't care what they leave behind , I wouldn't call them proper anglers . if they enjoyed the sport they would look after it . the main thing is you managed to fill the freezer and have a few for the table . so well done mate

Sad ....but it was the same at bull bay last visit there Dave ......it's sad as there are some who think it's all anglers who are to blame...when in fact it's a small minority
Tommorow is promised to no one...we plan...GOD laughs.

Lots off holiday makers macky spinning this time of year
they don't have too much respect for the area
most professional sea anglers do tidy up and i hate seeing it myself
i had to pick up some mackerel plastic packets a few weeks back myself
i try to avoid the lynn and anglesey around the school holidays
after that there is noticeably lest litter around

The Jolly Boys guy did a quick pickup and filled two carrier bags with rubbish and it was taken off by a couple of other lads who left early so good on them.
