Tywyn Topeing Sun 24/7
They often say the best days are least expected and this certainly backed up that theory. I'd arranged to meet Marc on Sunday , unable to do oxwich or saturday with him due to work saturday morning. Saturday afternoon I bowled my 12 overs at Ledbury ( a respectable 2-34 ;D) and retired to long leg to dream of bass and bream. I later padded up but wasnt required as our youngsters tore into the home teams bowling. My phone bleeped just as the winning runs were struck - 7 Tope!! A quick call to Marcj and plans for a few beers went out the window. I'd packed the car Friday but not with Tope in Mind ::) I was home at 10.30pm and tied up a few traces , packed rods for myself and Tim , a first timer who lives near me - this wasnt going to be his expected bream bash!!
Tim tied off to me as he hadnt sorted his anchor out yet , it was nice to have someone to chat to. ;D I had my first sreaming run within the hour and hooked up nicely. After about 4 good runs she was tiring but had swum around the anchor rope causing the inevitable snap :-[
Anyway the bream were about and we all enjoyed a bonanza , I kept 6 for the pot but caught around 20 odd
Tim was first in to a Tope , my small Shakespeare Euroboat 12lb class bending beautifully , it was like being tied to john wilson , the mad man giggling hysterically as the fish took line ;D Tim is more used to climbing glaciers than fighting tope but he was a happy man
I settled back desperately trying to hook a live Mackerael , its all they were really interested in , tucking into the special edition frijj cookies and cream :P Eventually a live Mackerael was caught and seconds later wwwwzzzzzzzzz ;D Took a while but I was happy with a fish around 35lb , hooked a little deeper than I'd like and despite putting on a glove I got a tooth in the thumb from the ungrateful brute
As the day drew to a close Tim did it again , this time a much bigger fish around the 35-40lb mark
We called it a day shortly after , Tim not surprisingly was elated ;D ;D There was just time for me to hook and lose a bass on my favourite J13 before that dreaded river walk

Cracking report there mate.... Curly has mentioned how good the yak fishing is down there, just not had chance to get there myself yet....
A Pwllheli trip gets mentioned a lot but never seems to happen either...
I feel a road trip coming on!!!

Make a difference - take home one piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing
