Yakkity yak Cleveleys April 9th
Met up with Curly and Trotter down at Cleveleys. I got a littl held up and got there for around 10.30am. After a bit of a rush to get my gear together we walked out to the waters edge. There was a bit of a breeze and a slight chop but nothing too much to worry about. We paddled out maybe half a mile and anchored near two dinghies who were already fishing.
From the off bite came steadily and first thoughts were that we would be plagued by D&D (doggies and dabs!!)
Thankfully i only had a couple of dogs
Dabs were a bit of a pain but not too bad...
Dab and Plaice double header
We had obviously found a bit of rough ground as i got snagged an odd time and also reeled in this little eddy
Once the run got going small codling came on the feed, with the dabs still feeding strong... Ended up having maybe a dozen or more Codling this size and a little bigger
Managed to winkle a pin whiting out for the species hunt
I had hooked and lost what felt like a bigger codling, and also another that almost took the rod in.... there were obviously odd better fish in amongst them and in the end perseverance paid off with this one weighed at home 2lb 10oz
Came back in about high tide and had to put up with the sunbathers and dog walkers nattering in your ear, but all in all not a bad little session, with 5 species in total!!
Another month and the place will be stuffed with hungry smoothhounds

Its the stress of you lot!!!
Yes yes i know, need to pack them in, again.... A bit annoyed at myself, 10 months off them and I'm back smoking
Anyway, half thought about going out for a couple of hours straight from work today, but decided the tides were slightly better timing tomorrow..... just checked forecast.......... 20mph westerlies
And now its too late to go really... bloody typical!!!
Did you get any photos Curly??

Copied from AA Got a Text from PaulMDAC on Friday. Did I fancy wetting a line at Cleveleys? Game on
Arrived to find Trotter allready there Thats a first ;D
Took my time getting ready as Paul was running late.
It was a tad windy but looked pretty flat.
I could see some kind of rig about 2 miles out
We paddled out little more than half a mile and ancored up in what can only be descibed as CHOPPY conditions. At least the sun was shining!
First drop and first fish on the year!
Had about five of the greddy sods along with plenty of these
a few of these
and only one of these
All through the day the local wildlife kept a close watch over us
As high water approached a Tug hauled the Rig in passing very close to Trotter
A great day on the water. Hopefully many more to follow.
Can`t wait till the Smuts and Tope turn up
